Cancel Projects

When a project is cancelled, all progress is halted, putting it in a frozen state that reflects the project’s status at the time of cancellation.

Cancelling a project involves four main tasks:

Set task status to “Cancelled”

All tasks with the status “Active” and “In progress” are set to “Cancelled”. This means the tasks don’t show up in the tasks module anymore. Actors of these tasks can be notified when cancelling the project.

Tasks with other statuses such as “Done” and “Inactive” remain unchanged.

Set project status to “Cancelled”

The project status changes to “Cancelled”, no matter the prior status. This makes it easy for cancelled projects to be found in the projects list or card -view.

Set project to read-only

If a project is cancelled, it will not be possible to make any more change to the project. This includes task configurations, project flow in the gantt chart, task assignments, deadlines, etc…

While editing is not possible anymore, it is still possible to delete the project.

Stop all schedules

The tasks in the project won’t receive any updates anymore. This means that dates remain unchanged and tasks don’t start automatically anymore. Tasks that are overdue will remain overdue, but the amount of days they are overdue won’t grow anymore.

Rights & Permissions

• Users with the PM right “Owner” can cancel projects where they are project manager.

• USers with the PM right “Administrator” can cancel any project.

Bulk Actions

Cancel projects is also available as a bulk action. In this case, an additional confirmation is required. This confirmation requires the user to type “cancel” before proceeding. The confirmation is case insensitive.
